Compound

Silicone (VMQ)

The widest service temperature range of any common elastomer, plus physiological inertness. Used where parts must survive an oven cycle or stay flexible in deep cold.

Why specify Silicone

  • Exceptional high- and low-temperature capability
  • Chemically inert, odourless, food-safe grades
  • Excellent ozone and UV stability
  • Retains flexibility across the whole range

Where it fails

Low tear and abrasion strength — avoid on dynamic, sliding or high-wear duties. Attacked by steam above 120 °C.

We would rather talk you out of the wrong compound than sell you a part that comes back in three months. If the duty is borderline, send the operating conditions and we will say so plainly.

Typical components in Silicone

  • Powder-coating and plating masking plugs
  • Oven and heater gaskets
  • Food and pharmaceutical tubing
  • High-temperature protective caps

Compare with other compounds

Send a drawing, a sample, or just a photo of the worn part.

We will identify the compound, quote the tooling and get a first sample to you. No drawing needed — a measured sketch or the old component is enough to start.
